The Digital Agricultural Suite (DAS) is a multipurpose digital platform that aims to improve
financial inclusion of smallholder farmers in Uganda and the greater sub-saharan Africa eco
-system through leveraging a data as a currency.
The DAS inclusiveness business Model is built on the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P)
approach that ensures that last mile market solutions are designed and deployed with the rural
smallholder farmer in mind, primarily to attend to systemic causes of the initial problem.
This is also to the benefit of all partners across the value chains off-takers, market
information, Production support (agricultural inputs), Extension and agro - advisory services
and financial services (savings and credit) through increased cost – efficiencies, reduced cost
of transaction, improved traceability through leveraging the digital footprint created through
the transactions and data capture and the subsequent safety proof provided by the gnuGrid Credit
Reference Bureau (CRB). In all ways, DAS solves the financial inclusion conundrum by helping
create a verifiable and attributable digital footprint across all the other nodes of the
valuechain from production to markets.
